PHD 120 - The holiday spark test or dry test was originally developed to test the integrity of pipe work but was later used in the roofing industry. this method is a quick and pin point way of testing the roof, but must be done in dry conditions. it works by earthing the building from your pack and a small voltage down the wand to a phosphor bronze brush electrode, as you walk up and down the roof and pass over an ingress point as small as a pin hole you will complete the circuit and see a small spark entering the ingress point.
WR-1 - Wet roof detector has been designed to locate the source of ingress in a roof that has already got an water ingress. the roof must be wet all over covering the earth wire ring or carry the test in rainy conditions. the pulse generator emits a small pulse inside the earth wire and two testing probes held in each hand linked to the receiver directs you to any leakage within the ring.
SINGLE PLY LAP PROBE - using this pointed device you run it up and down the welded laps of the membrane to find any weakness in the weld, this is normally done buy the manufacturers quality control engineers or the roofing contractors project manager. we test the odd lap as the weld can appear to be stuck and pass an integrity test but in time, weather conditions and the movement of the building/materials can weaken the lap and fail. the lap needs to be fused together to form a seamless bond and passing the lap probing.
